Ford started production of the Thunderbird from 1955 as a two seat convertible. It was marketed as a personal luxury car and thus was an upscale model compared to the Chevrolet Corvette. It evolved into a much larger car over the years and Ford even manufactured a retro looking model in 2002. The car came with a V8 engine developing over 200hp.
